Cell Phone Compare - The Great Smart Cell Phone Compare - Droid, iPhone, Blackberry, Palm

users contract phones incredible

With so many smart phones out there flooding the market, how are you ever to choose the best one for you? There is a huge variety of manufacturers and service providers that all do things just a bit differently. This guide will break down the top smart phone models from major companies to help you figure out which one will work best for you.

Droid

Let us start with the Droid, which has fetched amazing press from the moment of its release. It already has three versions, one from HTC (the Incredible), and two from Motorola. All Droid phones are available through Verizon Wireless. They all boast nice large screens with plenty of features, but this review will focus mainly on the Incredible. It goes for $200 with a 2-year contract at Verizon and required data plan. The Incredible has very impressive features, including an 8 megapixel built-in camera that can probably take pictures every bit as nice as your digital camera! The Snapdragon processor is indeed fast, launching multiple applications with ease. The giant screen plays media beautifully, and the 1 Ghz processor ensures smooth performance. Users of the Droid also have access to the ever-expanding app pool that is built for the Android operating system, giving you virtually no limit to how you can customize your phone. For these reasons, the Droid Incredible is not only the king of the Droid phones, but it could very well be the King of all Smartphones as well.

iPhone

Apple’s iPhone opened to wide acclaim and love from devoted users, and piqued the curiosity of smart phone lovers everywhere. The latest version is the 32GB iPhone 4, boasting a large storage capacity and faster processor. It of course offers easy integration with other Apple software, so it is a great choice for those who are already hardcore Mac users. You can get it for $299 with a 2-year contract at AT&T, so it is still a little pricier than Droid and other models. One big pain point about the iPhone for a lot of users is the closed OS, which limits development of apps to those approved by Apple, and prevents the user from certain methods of phone customization. They still offer thousands of apps that you can download from their app store, of course, but it does limit customization to a degree. The iPhone does offer a beautiful display, powerful processing, and an intuitive interface that is easy to learn. If you had no intentions of greatly modifying your smart phone in the first place (and thus do not mind the closed OS), then you will likely be more than happy with the new iPhone.

Blackberry

Now let us look at the Blackberry Bold 9700, which you can pick up from T-Mobile on a 2 year contract for $200. Blackberry users have long sworn by their smart phones. They are especially popular with office workers and on-the-go entrepreneurs because of their ability to smoothly handle email, text, schedule calendars, etc. Email can be set up to integrate with your office’s Microsoft Office. While it does play video, the smaller screen is not really ideal for viewing it. The full QWERTY keyboard is front-and-center, ready to go at a moment’s notice. This particular model is more slim and compact than its brethren, offering a nice aesthetic. If you want to be the king or queen of text, email, and on-the-go productivity, the Blackberry is a great choice.

Palm

We will end with a quick look at the Palm Pre Plus, a smart phone available for $100 from Verizon with contract. The Palm Pre Plus features a large, detailed screen with a slide-out keyboard underneath. It handles multitasking well, and it performs great on a speedy 3G network like Verizon’s. One particular thing to note about the Palm Pre Plus is its affinity for 3D apps – video games, in particular. You can smoothly run Need for Speed, 3D Monopoly, and a surprisingly large array of games on the Palm Pre. For a relatively inexpensive phone, this phone offers a decent punch – it is a great option for those who are not wild about coughing up $200-300 for their phone, but still want something solid.
