Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, and with good reason – there are so many attractions there. Visitors will never be at a loss to find things to do in Las Vegas. Of course, Vegas is known for its primary attraction – legalized gambling. People come from all over the world for the chance of winning hundreds, thousands, or even millions of dollars in one of the many casinos through table games, slot machines, poker, or sports betting. Gambling, however, is far from the only activity or attraction in Las Vegas. Any Las Vegas advisor can tell you that the city has an abundance of visual sights, professional stage shows, museums, and unique restaurants that many people find much more enjoyable than simply gambling and drinking. Unlike some less savory activities, with these you will not need to test the theory that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Here are the top things to do in Las Vegas:

Bellagio Fountains

The Bellagio Fountains are on just about every list of Las Vegas things to do in existence. While many hotels offer free shows outside, no show is more popular than the one put on by the fountains outside the Bellagio. Every 30 minutes from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and then, ever 15 minutes until midnight, the fountains begin their dance, using 1,214 nozzles to shoot streams of water up to 460 feet high in concert with classic Vegas songs by the likes of Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. Once at the Bellagio, stop inside and enjoy the fare at one of thirteen restaurants, such as Prime Steakhouse or Le Cirque. Inside is also a gallery of fine art that features exhibits on loan from top museums all over the world.

Stratosphere

The Stratosphere Hotel features some great attractions, the most prominent of which is the Stratosphere Tower. This tower, well, towers above Las Vegas at a height of 1,149 feet. If that does not sound like much of a thrill, there is a roller coaster on the top, the world’s highest, and a reverse bungee that shoots riders 160 feet further upward at 45 mph and allows them to fall back down. If that is still not enough, there is Insanity. Insanity is a multi-armed ride that extends 64 feet beyond the edge of the tower that whirls around in a circle with 3Gs of force.

Cirque du Soleil

This French Canadian, all-human circus is right at home in Las Vegas. Different troupes put on performances at various locations throughout the city. Here is a list of the top Cirque shows in Vegas:

• The Beatles, Love at the Mirage – This is the most exciting Beatles tribute that you will ever see.
• Ka at the MGM Grand – This Asian-inspired show features acrobatics, martial arts, and multimedia to tell the story of a journey of twins.
• Zumanity at New York, New York – This is a sensual story of love, sex, and eroticism that explores the primal urges of humankind.
• O at the Bellagio – O is a critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil show that celebrates the theater with an amazing aquatic performance.

Gondola Rides

At the Venetian, guests can take an old-world style gondola ride through the Grand Canal Shoppes. Gondoliers are trained in Venice, Italy and singer gondoliers are available on request. Reservations are required.

Secret Garden

The Secret Garden is located at the Mirage Hotel and is one of the most interesting things to do in Las Vegas. It has a full dolphin habitat with resident dolphins that like to show off for onlookers. Other exotic animals are also featured, including elephants, white tigers, leopards, and panthers.
