Dolce And Gabbana Perfume - The Fragrances of Dolce & Gabbana

“dolce notes version “no

“Dolce & Gabbana” fashion house was established in 1985 in Milan, Italy. The two chief designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana incorporate the Italian lifestyle, specifically Sicily, as their chief inspiration. The first clothing collection they released publically won critical acclaim at the “Milano Collezioni” in 1986. There are over 100 “Dolce & Gabbana” stores across the world. “Dolce & Gabbana” is heavily situated around such Italian staples as black lace, Sicilian oranges and lemons, the smell of the sea, tobacco and herbs. Most of thee fragrances are under the “D&G” label. The entire fragrance anthology of “Dolce & Gabbana” consists of 32 separate scents. They include “D & G Masculine”, “Sun”, and “Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue”, “D&G Masculine”, “D&G Feminine,” “Sicily”, and Dolce & Gabbana The One perfume for women.

“Dolce & Gabbana Parfum” won the best feminine fragrance in 1993 award from the Perfume Academy. It contains notes of basil, tangerine, orange flowers, carnation, marigold, and an undercurrent note of vanilla. It is classified as an “oriental” and a “romantic” scent, recommended for the mature woman, and for use during casual wear. The men’s version, “Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme" was soon also awarded. The Perfume Academy’s international prize for best masculine fragrance was “Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme.” It collected both best packaging and best communication of the year in 1995. In 1996, it won the “Oscar des Parfums” Award. This was the first time that the French award was ever given to an Italian fragrance. “Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme” is similar to the female version in that it contains sweet and sour notes of citrus fruits. The scent is comprised of a combination of Sicilian lemon, orange, lavender, sage, cedar and tobacco.

The best-selling “Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue” is extremely complex and strong. “Light Blue” for women was made six years prior to the men’s version. It was so successful and it was commonly known that men always used the fragrance for themselves. This led Dolce and Gabbana to design a version suitable for me, but similar to the original women’s scent. It is considered a “true” scent, and it is available in both women’s and men’s versions. The women’s version is considered “citrus and fruit” and it is comprised of Sicilian lemon, mandarin, lavender, sage, cedar and tobacco. The men’s variety is composed of mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, juniper, rosewood and rosemary. It also contains thicker notes of musk, wood, oakmoss and incense.

“The One” was originally created for the daughter of Bob Harrod, the owner of “Harrod’s” department store in England. He wanted a birthday present for his daughter, Camillia Al Fayed, that no one else would have. He commissioned the perfume labs of Dolce & Gabbana to produce a fragrance which he was happy with, and that no one else would be able to purchase. Harrod was so thrilled, that for an entire year, “The One” was not sold or made for anyone other than his daughter. It became available in 2006 and it stands as one of the best-selling of their fragrances. Seasonal variations such as “L’eau d’ the One” and “Rose- The One” have also been produced using the same notes as the original version.

Recently, Dolce and Gabbana released “The Anthology”, which was a set of five separately sold fragrances inspired by tarot cards. The bottles were plainly designed with a modern font, and the color of each perfume is dyed in a pastel shade. They are not directed at either gender, and can be layered against one another. “The Anthology” includes “No.1 Le Bateluer” (the seducer card) which consists of an aquatic middle note and bottom notes of vetyver and cedar wood. “No. 6 L’Amoureux” (the lover card) has peppery top notes and woodsy bottom notes. “No. 3 L’Imperatrice” (the star card) is composed of fruit based top notes and musky bottom notes. “No. 10 La Roue de Fortune” is heady tuberose with a musky finish. “No. 18 La Lune” (the dreamer card) has a composition of florals against the back notes of light leather.

Dolce and Gabbana’s launch into fragrances has proven to be both retail and an industry success with both innovative and best selling fragrances.
