Panasonic Toughbook Computers - How Rugged are Panasonic Toughbook Computers?

able laptop withstand designed

While laptop computers are exceedingly more convenient than their desktop counterparts, many laptop owners worry about the fragility of their computers. Particularly, owners that travel often, have physically demanding jobs, or who have small children worry about their laptops being damaged or destroyed. But Panasonic has eased this fear with their introduction of a series of sturdier laptops, called Panasonic Toughbook Computers.

Panasonic recently debuted their Toughbook 31, and they bill it as having the “world’s most rugged design.” It offers an appealing design feature that protects it from many of the negative effects of dropping it.

But Panasonic Toughbook Computers aren’t all bulk and no brains. These Toughbooks offer the function of a quality laptop. The Toughbook 31 comes with an Intel Core processor, a 13.1" screen, and an integrated webcam. Additionally, this Panasonic Toughbook boasts a battery life of up to 11 hours. Its standard operating system is Windows 7 Professional. Panasonic promises that these Toughbook Computers have desktop quality performance.

The rugged treatment that the Toughbook is designed to withstand is mind-boggling. This computer is manufactured to be able to withstand a 6 foot fall up to 26 times. Additionally, it should survive 70 miles per hour winds and be able to take a lashing from driving rain. The Toughbook should be able to function in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit and as high as 140 degrees Fahreinheit. In addition, the Toughbook should be able to operate at an altitude as high as 15,000 feet. It is able to withstand these feats because the lid is designed of a magnesium alloy surrounded by hard plastic. The lid closes via a pair of strong hinges. In addition to designing the Toughbook to withstand rugged treatment, Panasonic offers a 3 year limited warranty on the laptop computer.

Panasonic Toughbook computers are also designed with advanced security features. The Toughbook 31 has optional security options such as a fingerprint reader and a concealed mode. Since Panasonic Toughbook computers are often used by police forces, the Toughbook 31 is equipped with a touch screen that users can view even while wearing night vision goggles.

The computer user should expect to pay from $3,500 to $4,000 for the ruggedly durable Panasonic Toughbook, depending on which optional features the user chooses.

Overall, the Panasonic Toughbook 31 promises to deliver superior function in an incredibly durable design. For laptop users that need a truly rugged computer, the Toughbook should fit the bill nicely.
