The airport serves many carriers, but it is the largest hub of Spirit Airlines. Free Options for Fort Lauderdale Airport Transportation

A free courtesy shuttle is offered for transportation around the airport. Shuttles that go between the terminals run every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shuttles between the terminals and the economy parking lot and between the terminals and the rental car companies run every day, 24 hours a day. Broward County Transit’s Route 1 serves the Fort Lauderdale airport. There are bus stops on the west side of terminal 1, between terminals 2 and 3, and between terminals 3 and 4. The bus will take you to Aventura, where you can catch buses to other locations throughout the area.

Both Broward County Trains and Tri-Rail operate trains that run throughout the day at the airport. There is a free shuttle to and from the airport at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Tri-Rail station.

Perhaps the most convenient transportation option at the airport is a taxi cab. Taxis are available throughout the airport, and prices vary depending on where you need to go. To get from the airport to downtown Fort Lauderdale should cost somewhere between $20 to $30. Getting to Miami’s South Beach will be about $70 to $80. Getting further north to the Palm Beach area will cost somewhere between $80 to $100 in a taxi.

Hiring a private car service or limousine will typically be a little more expensive, especially if you are going to a nearby location. To get to Fort Lauderdale will cost about $40 to $45, to Miami’s South Beach will be about $70 to $80, and getting to Palm Beach costs about $100.

Finally, if you are planning on renting a car, the Fort Lauderdale airport has twelve rental car companies on site, so you should be able to find something that works well for you.
