Through the 1990s, few computer hardware companies were more recognizable or successful than Gateway. With their well known cow spotted packaging and clever ad campaigns, the brand took off as a low cost option for computers. However, in the 2000s, the company began to lose its market share, and by 2006 it had dropped out of the Fortune 500 list. In 2007, Acer, Inc. purchased Gateway for $710 million. Although the company does not have the market presence that it once did, it continues to sell computers and displays. Currently, the company sells a number of Gateway LCD monitors that range in size from 20 to 24 inches.

The 20 inch Gateway LCD monitor, the Gateway HX2000, retails for about $150. It has a resolution of 1600 × 900, a pixel pitch at .2768, a contrast ratio of 50000:1, and a 5ms response time. This monitor is Energy Star approved and comes with a one year warranty on parts and labor.

The next size up is the 21.5 inch Gateway FHD2102. With a suggested price of $200, this monitor has features like 1080p Full HD, a 20000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 5ms response time. It also has three USB input slots, stereo speakers built in, and DVI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. It, too, is Energy Star approved and has a one year warranty.

The 22 inch Gateway HD2201 LCD monitor also retails for $200. It has a 2000:1 static contrast ratio, DVI-D with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection for viewing protected DVDs, and four video inputs, along with the standard Energy Star certification and one year warranty.

Gateway currently offers two 23 inch LCD displays. The Gateway FHX2300, which retails for $230, has a 1920 × 1080 resolution, a 5ms response time, 0.2655mm pixel pitch, and a 300cd/m² brightness capability. It also has full 1080p HD and HDMI or DVI inputs. It too has High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. The other 23 inch Gateway LCD display, the Gateway has many of the same features as the FHX2300, including 1920 × 1080 resolution, 300cd/m² brightness, 1080p HD, HDMI or DVI input, and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. It has a slightly higher suggested retail price of $240 because it has a faster response time (2ms as opposed to 5ms). These are both Energy Star approved and have a one year warranty.

There are also two 24 inch Gateway LCD monitors currently available. The first, the Gateway FHD2402, retails for $260. It has features like 1080p HD, a 40000:1 contrast ratio and a 2ms response time. It also has four USB ports, stereo speakers, and DVI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. The most expensive Gateway LCD monitor is the Gateway FHD2401. With a retail price of $400, this display has an “extreme high-def” resolution of 1920 × 1200, a maximum 2ms response time, 400cd/m² brightness, and a 0.270mm pixel pitch. It also has a picture-in-picture feature, HDMI, analog, and digital ports. Both of these displays are also Energy Star certified and have a one year warranty on parts and labor.

Although the company is not as large as it once was and does not have the range of products that it did in the late 1990s, Gateway still offer a wide range of LCD monitors at price ranges from $150 to $400, so they should fit into most economy to moderate budgets.
