Under The Counter Tv - Buying an Under-the-Counter TV - Top Models of Under-the-Counter TV

screen cabinet kitchen unit

When going out shopping for a new TV, we tend to think of a huge 40” to 60” home theater spectacular. This size TV, however, does not fit the requirements of every situation. When space is limited, but television or video viewing is still desired, a much smaller version LCD TV is what is needed.

One innovative solution for a small, space-saving TV that is perfect in the kitchen and other small areas is the under the counter TV. This is actually a common misnomer because, in reality, there is no such thing as an under counter TV. It is more properly called an under cabinet TV, but many people get mixed up with larger appliances like trash compacters and dishwashers that are under-the-counter models. A TV that is under the counter would be much too low for any kind of practical viewing.

The under-the-counter TV (under-the-cabinet TV) has become popular in kitchens because people are starting to spend a lot more time preparing their own meals. A lot of the tasks in the kitchen are mindless and repetitive, so it helps to have something to do while working with those recipes that have long prep times.

Another reason why so many people desire an under cabinet TV in the kitchen is because of the soaring popularity of cooking shows. This allows budding chefs to watch their favorite cooking programs while following along in their own home.

Kitchen TVs can be hard to place. Countertop models take up valuable kitchen real estate that may be needed for preparing and serving meals. An under cabinet TV is equipped with a mounting bracket that attaches under any cabinet. The actual TV screen then swings up for times when not in use or when it would get in the way and back down again when ready for viewing. This practical design not only saves space, but it affords some protection for the screen when working with foods that may splatter or spill.

Top Models of Under-the-Counter TV

Although there are several models and sizes of under cabinet TVs available, not all of them are created equal. A few models stand out above the rest. Here are the top under cabinet TVs on the market today:

Venturer KLV3915

Although Venturer is not a brand name that comes to mind when shopping for TVs, this little unit is top-of-the-line. It has a 15.4” screen that both tilts and rotates up to 270-degrees. When not in use, it can be folded up flat against the base unit. The base unit has some added features, so you are getting more than a TV. Included features are a built in TV tuner, DVD player, and alarm clock, and AM/FM radio. It also has a magnetic remote control. This is a complete entertainment center for the kitchen in a very small package.

Coby KTFDVD1093

This under counter TV only has a 10.2” screen, but it is large on features. The screen swivels, tilts, and folds all the way up. It is white to fit in with the most common kitchen appliance color and décor. The base unit contains a DVD and CD player, AM/FM radio, digital tuner, A/V input for accessories, and stereo speakers.

Audiovox VE927

Audiovox is a top manufacturer of car electronics, so the under counter TV is a natural extension of the flip-screen car TV. This model has a 9 inch LCD screen that swivels 270-degrees. The base unit has a DVD player, AM/FM radio, front-panel controls, built-in stereo speakers, and a cooking timer. A magnetic remote control is included.
