Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has the distinction of being the busiest airport in the world. The airport handles over 88 million passengers on 970,000 flights each year, and projections show that total passengers will reach 121 million by 2015. The airport is located about 7 miles due south of downtown Atlanta. It consists of two terminals and six concourses that total 5.8 million square feet in area. Outside the concourses are five runways from 9,000 feet to 11,890 feet in length.

To handle all of the traffic, there is an extensive system of ground airport transportation to Atlanta and other local areas. Options for Atlanta airport ground transportation include shuttle, bus, limo, taxi, and rental cars. Each of these types of transportation are coordinated through a system of color codes to help passengers navigate through the transportation area. To help passengers with questions, a dedicated ground transportation service center operates weekdays from 8:30 am to 5 pm, except on Tuesday when it closes at noon. The service center can be contacted in person or by calling 404-530-4249 or 404-530-6674.

Shuttles for airport transportation at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson are operated by the surrounding hotels and by the consolidated rental car center, which is located offsite. For shuttles that do not run on a regular schedule, courtesy phones are available so calls for pickup can be made.

Shared-ride shuttles pick up in the green area outside the transportation center. The official shared-ride service is the Atlanta Airport Shuttle Connection operated by A-National Limousine.
