Looking for a getaway that’s got it all in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains? Try the Wintergreen Resort. The Wintergreen is a beautiful resort nestled high atop the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether you’re planning a romantic weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a corporate retreat, you owe it to yourself to see all that the Wintergreen has to offer.

Activities at the Wintergreen Resort

Winter, spring, summer, or fall – no matter when you visit the Wintergreen Resort, the most difficult decision you’ll make is which of the resort’s many activities to choose from on any given day.

Visiting in the spring or summer? Perhaps you’d enjoy a hike on one of the Wintergreen’s 30 miles of hiking trails. There are a number of routes to choose from, ranging from a relaxing stroll in the woods to a challenging mountain trek. Enjoy fly fishing? The Wintergreen has fly fishing services to accommodate every level of experience, from novice to expert. If you’ve never fished before, the resort offers beginner’s classes taught by Orvis-endorsed instructors to get you started. There’s even fly fishing weekends for kids. Half and full day fly fishing trips with experienced guides are available. Looking for a refreshing place to cool off? The Wintergreen Resort has two outdoor pools and beautiful Lake Monocan available for swimming. Other outdoor activities include golf at two completely different (but equally spectacular) golf courses, tennis on one of the 21 courts the resort has to offer, horseback riding, summer tubing, a zip line, horseback riding, and more.

From late fall through early spring, Wintergreen is a favorite destination for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The Wintergreen Resort has twice been named by the readers of The Washington Post as the area’s “Best Ski Resort”. The resort features 25 ski slopes, with something for every level of experience from beginner through expert. Thirteen of the slopes are suitable for night skiing. No long waits to get to the top – the Wintergreen has five ski lifts (two of which are 6 person high speed lifts). Once you’re finished enjoying some frosty fun, relax in the resort’s sauna, heated indoor swimming pool, or hot tubs.

For anytime of year, the Wintergreen has numerous indoor activities to choose from including the indoor swimming pool, indoor tennis courts, a fitness center featuring cardiovascular and strength training equipment and offering a variety of fun classes including yoga and belly dancing, video games, foosball, pool tables, air hockey, and even a mechanical bull.

For guests who just want to relax and pamper themselves a bit, the Wintergreen’s Wintergarden Spa is just the place. Here, you’ll enjoy a full range of spa services including massages, body wraps, skin care treatments, and nail service. Got a tween or teen? The Wintergarden Spa offers services for young ladies ages 9-17. There are even spa services for the guys including The Back Nine Sports Massage and the Mountain Man Tune-Up Facial. The Wintergarden Spa also offers spa party packages perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, or just a fun girls’ getaway.
