Country Auto Insurance - Country Auto Insurance Overview – Are They for You? - Coverages, Discounts, Customer Reviews

car qualify company cars

Country started as a farmers’ coalition to provide cheap insurance to rural residents, and has grown into a multi-billion dollar company. Today they provide insurance services in almost every sector, from home insurance to their traditional farm and crop insurance. They also have extensive auto insurance coverage. Here’s an overview of their auto insurance policies to help you decide whether or not they’re the company for you.

Coverages

Country offers a coverage option called “The Keeper” which is 100% repair or replacement coverage for newer cars. The idea is, because new cars lose so much value in their first years, some insurance companies can leave you high and dry if you total one. The insurance company will only pay you what the car was worth at the time of the accident, which means that even if it was only a year old, you will probably receive thousands of dollars less than what you paid for it. The Keeper covers you in such an event, paying the full repair cost even if it exceeds the market value of the car. (Or they buy a new one of the same make and model). This is an especially important consideration if you purchase brand-new or almost-new cars.

Country also has all the standard insurance coverages.

Discounts

Country offers many discounts, and chances are no matter who you are, you will at least qualify for one of them. Their discounts include the following:

  • Good student/college graduate
  • If you’re in high school or college, (especially high school), you need to take advantage of any discount you can get. If you have a B or higher average, you can qualify for this discount. Or, if you graduated college, you are entitled to a discount for the rest of your life, regardless of GPA.

  • Anti-theft
  • Equipping anti-theft equipment will entitle you to a discount.
  • Defensive driver
  • Take a state-approved defensive driving course for up to a 5% discount.
  • Engaged couple
  • If you are engaged to be married in at least 12 months and one of you is at least 21, you could qualify for further discounts on your rates. Why? I have no idea! Clearly engaged drivers are safer drivers, it would seem. But why not take advantage?
  • Driver training
  • This is another chance for people under 21 to grab a much-needed discount on car insurance. You just need to take a state-approved driving course for a discount of up to 10%.
  • Multi-policy/multi-auto
  • If you have multiple cars or multiple Country auto policies, you can qualify for more discounts.

Customer Reviews

One of the most important things about auto insurance companies is customer service. Going through a car accident is already incredibly stressful by itself, but add in a nightmare with your insurance company and you could reach the breaking point! Ask friends or family who have insured with Country about their experiences. Look at online review sites such as topinsurance.org to find other customers’ experiences. (But do keep in mind that the people who are motivated to actually sit down and write these reviews either had very good or very bad experiences. Sometimes it can be hard to find middle ground.)

That’s it for this introduction to Country Financial auto insurance. Here’s to your informed decision.
