The Art Institute of California, Orange County is also known as Art Institute of Orange County. It is one of the forty Art Institutes located in North America and is a private applied arts college, accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Schools and Colleges. The institute offers education programs in design, fashion, culinary arts and multimedia.

The Orange County institute offers a bachelor of science degree in advertising, digital filmmaking and video production, fashion marketing and management, game art and design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, media arts and animation, culinary management, visual effects and motion graphics, visual and game programming and web design and interactive media.

Students can opt for some bachelor of fine art courses too such as fashion design and culinary arts. The average class size is 25 to 40 students and classes are taught by industry professionals.

For culinary students, facilities include the 50 Forks Restaurant, which is functional when the school is in session. The bistro restaurant is wholly run by students and is included as a credit for final quarter students.

In order to apply to The Art Institute of Orange County, you must be a high school graduate or have a General Educational Development Certificate. Although the institute does not have any admission test, SAT and ACT score are considered. Prospective students are required to submit two essays on topics mentioned on their website, after which a phone interview is conducted.

Students can fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine their eligibility for financial aid. To receive aid, a student must demonstrate financial need and must also sign a statement of educational purpose. Financial aid is available in the form of financial pell grants, with grants ranging from $400 to $5000 per academic year. Part time students receive smaller amounts. There is also a subsidized Federal Stafford Student Loan with a fixed interest rate of 6%. The institute also offers vocational rehabilitation programs for people with physical and mental disabilities.

The Art Institute provides various awards, grants and scholarships to new and continuing students on the basis of academic achievement and community service credentials. Some of the scholarships are awarded through competitions and is offered to grand prize winners. Organizations like Scholastic, National Art Honor Society and FCCLA also award scholarships.

The Career Services Department generates job leads and helps graduates learn skills like effective resume writing. They are also responsible for managing job fairs and employer presentations. Students participate in a portfolio review which helps prepare a professional portfolio for employers. According the Art Institute, Orange County website 92% of the graduates get hired in their field of study within six months of graduation and earn an average salary of $35,386.

The institute also offers evening and weekend classes for working professionals that allows them to earn their degrees in two to three years. They also have an overseas study program. For 2010, the extended tip programs include quarter abroad programs in Europe.
