All Clad Nonstick - All Clad Nonstick Pans - Rare but There - All Clad Nonstick Pans and Standard All Clad Pan Collections

bull cookware company copper

One of the top names in cookware in the U.S. and the rest of the world is All-Clad. Several varieties of All-Clad pan can be found in department stores and specialty stores in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, and Australia. A common misconception is that All-Clad nonstick pans are a specialty of the company, when in fact, All-Clad nonstick pans are rare and difficult to find. They are produced by the company strictly as tertiary cookware meant to draw people in to their other collections. All-Clad nonstick skillets can often be found packaged with a piece from one of the premier collections in hopes that after trying it out, the nonstick piece will be forgotten about.

All-Clad Metalcrafters began in 1960 by the company’s founder, John Ulam. Ulam was a metalworker who obtained over 50 patents on bonded metal. He helped the U.S. Mint to convert their coins from solid silver to the bonded, layered metals used today. The company headquarters is in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

It was not until 1967 when Ulam began using his patents to produce cookware. His metallurgic formulations had properties that he believed could be useful to chefs and cooks. His experiments showed that his bonded metals were far superior to the existing cookware of the day. He marketed his new products to professional chefs and gourmet cooks but it was slow to catch on.

Only after 1988 did the All-Clad pan really gain popularity. This is the year Sam Michaels purchased the company, expanded production, and began a more aggressive marketing strategy targeting consumers. Michaels’ leadership was extremely successful, and the company twice changed hands after that. Today, All-Clad is ownded by Groupe SEB, one of the largest French kitchenware corporations in the world.
