Memphis Bed And Breakfast - Finding a Memphis Bed and Breakfast - Sassafras Inn Bed & Breakfast, Magnolia Grove Bed & Breakfast

city house night available

Memphis is a city located in southwestern Tennessee on the Chickasaw Bluffs where the Wolf River meets the Mississippi. It is possibly one of the most misunderstood cities in the United States. Although it was once a minor tourist destination due to a small role in the music industry, it has long ago turned from such pursuits to be a leading business center in the area. While there are some cultural events in the area that focus on Greek heritage, Italian heritage, or independent filmmaking, most visitors arrive to the city either to visit friends and family or conduct business.

Many people hold the belief that Memphis is a quiet backwoods city on the outskirts of the wild, amid green forests and rolling hills. They believe they are going to stay in a peaceful old Memphis bed and breakfast listening to the wind blow through the leaves. The fact of the matter is that Memphis is a city with a population of over 600,000 people, making it the largest city in Tennessee. It is completely urbanized and there is nary a bed & breakfast in the entire place.

There is exactly one Memphis bed and breakfast advertised as operating in the city, and if you read the reviews, you would never venture to stay there. For the record, the single Memphis bed and breakfast is the Roulhac Mansion at 810 East McLemore Ave, Memphis, TN 38106. The photos online and in the brochures look pleasant enough, but reviews from past customers tell a different story. The place is described as being run by an old, drunken couple who only grunt to communicate. The “mansion” is said to be located in a neighborhood overrun by drug addicts and homeless. Inside, it is decorated “tastelessly” and iron bars adorn all the windows. For such luxuries, you can expect to pay a minimum of $129 per room per night.

This does not mean your idea for a Memphis bed and breakfast has to be thrown out the window. There are two areas within 25 miles of Memphis that have some nice bed and breakfasts available: Hernando, Mississippi to the south and Cordova, Tennessee to the east.

Here are the top almost Memphis bed and breakfast inns according to consumer reviews:
