Many think Las Vegas is all casinos and shows but there are many attractions in Las Vegas for kids. Hotels with amazing pools, theme parks, shows for kids, and water parks are just some of the venues geared toward children.

The 117,000 gallon aquarium at the Silverton Hotel is home to live mermaids. Of course there are fish too, about 4000 of them, including sharks and stingrays. The mermaid show is every half hour in the afternoons and the fish feeding is every 3 hours starting at 1:30 p.m. The aquarium is free.

At the MGM Grand kids can put their detective skills to work at CSI: The Experience. There are three crime scenes to choose from. Kids learn out to use scientific methods to solve the crime including fingerprinting and DNA in the lab. They examine crime scene photos and then record their conclusion. At the end of the experience the participants are shown what really happened during the crime. The experience begins every 10 minutes. Reservations are recommended.

One of the best-known attractions in Las Vegas for kids is the Adventuredome at Circus Circus. This is a theme park under a glass dome that encloses more than 5 acres of fun. Although some of the rides might not be for smaller children there is a children’s section with rides just for them. Beside the rides you can watch an IMAX film ride or go to the 4-D Special FX theatre to see the cartoon character Marvin the Martian. Since it is Circus Circus there are clown shows throughout the day. You can also play a round of miniature golf, shoot each other in laser tag or drive the bumper cars. You can pay for each ride separately or buy an all day pass.

The Mirage may be one of the best places in Las Vegas for kids who love animals. The Dolphin Habitat is a research center for dolphins. You can see them training and exhibiting behaviors as they would in the wild. Also at the Mirage is the Secret Garden, a sanctuary for lions, tigers, and leopards many with unusual coloring.
Take the kids on the monorail. It’s an easy way to travel around the strip and a fun trip for the kids. There are elevators so that you can easily use the monorail with a stroller. You can pay for each ride separately or buy a one-day or three-day pass.

Even after dark there are fun things to do in Las Vegas for kids. Take them to the fountain show at the Bellagio. Music plays in synchronization with the fountains. Another popular show is the Volcano show at the Mirage. It runs every 15 minutes once it is dark outside. Music is timed to the fire balls and molten lava that spew out of the volcano. Both of these after dark shows are free.
