Ciba Vision Lens - Choosing a Type of Ciba Vision Lens

lenses optix day technology

Ciba Vision is one of the leading manufacturers of contact lenses in the United States. Manufacturing plants for Ciba Vision are located internationally in Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, but most Ciba Vision lens technology is developed in their Atlanta, Georgia headquarters. The Ciba Vision lens product line is small and made to incorporate as many different contact lens preferences as possible without compromising the brand.

Ciba Vision was founded in 1980 as an effort by the Ciba-Geigy pharmaceutical company to diversify. Their success in the eye health industry led to a merger with the Sandoz company in 1996. After the merger, the company became known as Novartis, and Ciba Vision became Novartis’ eye care division.

Ciba Vision owes its success in its ability to meet market demands with newly developed technologies. Their success led to sales of nearly 2 billion Ciba Vision lenses in 2009. Ciba Vision lens technology is developed with a few key goals in mind. They are not only made to improve vision, but to enhance appearance and self-esteem. The Ciba Vision lens is made to provide comfort while meeting the active demands of a busy lifestyle.

Ciba Vision has locations in over 30 countries and Ciba Vision lenses can be purchased in more than 70 countries around the world. The Ciba Vision lens family includes three major brands. Here are those brands and their features:

Air Optix
Air Optix is a family of four different Ciba Vision lens types: Aqua, Astigmatism, Multifocal, and Night & Day. Air Optix contact lenses use Ciba Vision’s TriComfort Technology that helps maintain the maximum level of comfort from morning to night. The benefits of TriComfort Technology are threefold:

  • Breathability – Oxygen is allowed to freely flow through the lenses, so they always feel natural and keep eyes healthy.
  • Moisture Retention – The materials used in Air Optix are used exclusively by Ciba Vision to ensure the lenses retain as much moisture as possible to keep lenses supple and comfortable.
  • Deposit Resistance – Air Optix lenses are made to resist the buildup of calcium deposits so they remain comfortable and wearable for an entire month.

The astigmatism and multifocal lenses are specialty types, made for only certain people. The standard Aqua lenses are meant to be removed before sleeping, while the Night & Day lenses can be left in while sleeping.

Dailies
Ciba Vision Dailies AquaComfort Plus lenses are a daily disposable type of lens that uses the patented Triple Action Moisture technology. This is a combination of three moisturizers that that provide instant comfort upon wearing and continue to moisturize throughout the day. The moisturizers are activated by blinking and each Ciba Vision lens is rated for 14,000 activations per day. These lenses never need cleaning. They are thrown away at the end of each day, so there is never any chance for deposits to build up. These are the perfect choice of Ciba Vision lens for anyone who has sensitive eyes that are easily irritated or for anyone who has trouble or experiences discomfort with wearing other types of lenses.
