Sturgeon Bay Hotels - The Top Sturgeon Bay Hotels - Holiday Motel, AmericInn of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Bay Shore Inn

suites include free whirlpool

Sturgeon Bay, though a small city with only 9,437 residents, is the seat of Door County, Wisconsin. It is located at the natural end of Sturgeon Bay, a vastly smaller bay in the larger and more well-known Green Bay. The city spans north and south over the bay as its man-made extension, the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal leads to Lake Michigan. Sturgeon Bay has little in the way of man-made entertainment outside the old single-screen movie theater, but thousands of tourists every year come to the area enjoy the natural wonders of the bay and relax on the shore or take to the water. The city hoses several working lighthouses to keep their vessels safe no matter if they are commercial carriers, schooners, or dugout canoes. Narrated tours are provided on an historical fireboat, and guests enjoy shopping in the boutiques and galleries and dining in the local restaurants.

Many guests prefer to stay in one of the local bed & breakfasts, but there are also a number of Sturgeon Bay hotels, many of them quite unique. Disregarding the bed & breakfasts, here are the top three Sturgeon Bay hotels, according to the consumer ratings:

Holiday Motel

30 North 1st Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235
Phone; 920-743-5571

Even without high ratings from past guests, the Holiday Motel is the most unique of the Sturgeon Bay hotels. Technically, the establishment is the city’s first motel, but the amenities here are great enough to bump into the higher hotel category. It was first built in 1952 and fully renovated in 2008 for eco-friendliness. New carpeting, pillow-top mattresses, and hypo-allergenic down pillows are among the new additions. Besides being a hotel, the Holiday motel is also the region’s premiere venue for up-and-coming musicians. Thanks to a grammy-nominated sound engineer, the motel hosts weekly open mic nights, house concerts, workshops, and concerts from well-established musicians from around the world. It is located within walking distance to the city’s shops and restaurants. Amenities include refrigerators in all rooms, free wireless internet, complimentary breakfast, outdoor seating, and a pet fee of only $5. Rooms include single queen bed, two full beds, and one full/one queen. Rates start at only $39 per night.
