The University of Dallas is a private, Catholic liberal arts university, located in Irving, Texas, which is northwest of Dallas. The school is highly regarded, having been named as one of the country’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report and Forbes. The University of Dallas was also placed on PARADE magazine’s College A-List. Nearly 3,000 students are enrolled, with graduate students making up just over half of the population.

A wide variety of undergraduate degree programs are offered by the university’s Constantin College of Liberal Arts and its College of Business. The core program is highlighted by the Rome Program, which allows students to study abroad at the University of Dallas’ Rome campus. The program studies the foundation of Western civilization, and approximately 70 percent of students who graduate from the university take part in the Rome Program. The overwhelming majority of the university’s pre-med graduates and pre-law graduates are accepted to professional schools.

The graduate studies program offers Master’s degrees in American Studies, Humanities, English, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology and Theology. Also available at the University of Dallas is a Ph.D. in either Literature, Philosophy or Politics. The university offers the nation’s only Ph.D. program with a core curriculum required of all students.

All accepted Ph. D. students are offered full tuition scholarships and the majority of those studying for a Master’s degree receive a one-half tuition scholarship. Full-time instructors who are also enrolled in a graduate degree program receive a two-thirds tuition scholarship.

The University of Dallas has seven on-campus residence halls. Five are reserved for new students, one for upperclassmen and one for students who don’t fall under a particular residency requirement. Undergraduate students under the age of 21 or who have not yet earned 90 credit hours must reside on campus. The residence halls are governed by the Residence Hall Association, a student-led group that designs and provides activities that range from recreational to educational for the benefit of all students.

The University of Dallas athletic program fields teams in seven men’s and seven women’s sports. The teams compete on the Division III, non-scholarship level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In addition, the school offers several intramural sports as well as two club sports at the school, rugby and sailing.

Irving, Texas has a population of 200,000, and is conveniently located just 10 miles from both of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area’s major airports, D/FW International and Love Field. Downtown Dallas is also just a 15 minute-drive from campus.
