physical depression and anxiety anxiety attacks general anxiety disorder obsessive-compulsive disorder panic disorder phobia social anxiety

Almost everyone feels anxious at one time or another, and that is normal. Many people feel anxious about beginning a new job, speaking in front of a crowd, meeting new people and various other stressful situations. That is common, and a few occasions of anxiety now and then are nothing to be concerned about.

However, if symptoms of anxiety disorder become severe, there are some remedies available. If people have a few of the following symptoms, anxiety disorder may be the diagnosis of their problems.

· Continuous worry, edginess and tension
· Illogical fear that they can’t get rid of
· Belief that if they don’t do some things the same way every time, bad things will happen
· Abrupt unforeseen bouts of panic
· Feelings of impending peril and tragedy
· Anxiety that hinders work, school or family life
· Evasion of ordinary events that may cause anxiety

Symptoms of anxiety disorder may vary greatly from one person to another, but one common symptom is an unreasonable fear in circumstances that would not make most people worry.

Anxiety disorder symptoms can be either emotional, physical or a combination of both.

Some frequent emotional symptoms of anxiety disorder are:

· Impatience and bad temper
· Uneasiness and anxiety
· Concentration problems
· Negativity
· Expecting danger
· Tension and nervousness
· Forgetfulness or a spaced out feeling

Many people suffer from unpleasant physical symptoms. Anxiety disorder is sometimes believed to be a medical condition because some of the symptoms mimic those of other diseases. Some of the usual physical symptoms are:

· Wildly beating heart
· Excessive perspiration
· Insomnia
· Headache
· Dizziness
· Queasy stomach
· Diarrhea
· Need to urinate often
· Muscle tension
· Fatigue
· Breathing difficulty
· Shaking and tics

Depression and Anxiety

Anxiety and depression appear to be triggered by the same biological weakness, and that may be why some people suffer from both afflictions. Anxiety is more acute for somebody who is depressed, and depression is more severe to someone who is feeling anxious.

Anxiety Attacks

Anxiety attacks are sometimes called panic attacks because they are incidents of extreme panic or fright. They are normally unexpected and take place suddenly. Occasionally, there is a good reason for the attack, like facing a stressful situation, but sometimes they happen for no apparent reason.

Panic attacks usually do not last longer than 30 minutes, and the worst part of the attack is usually about 10 minutes after it begins. However, the fright can be so acute during the attack that people sometimes feel like they are dying or losing control of themselves. Many people are afraid that they are having a heart attack because the physical symptoms are so severe. After suffering an anxiety attack, many people agonize over the possibility that it could happen again, especially in public where they cannot easily get away from people.
