Silk Screen Shirts - How to Silk Screen Shirts

process plastic fabric using

The process of screen printing is utilized when you wish to transfer an image or a design from one type of material to another. There are several different types of materials that can be used in screen printing. Some of these materials include paper and wood, as well as several different types of fabric, including silk. Silk screening is becoming increasingly popular and more and more people want to have unique clothing that says something about themselves and who they are. When you silk screen shirts, you are taking control of your own fashion.

The silk screening process begins with an image that you create using a stencil or paint. Using equipment and a piece of mesh fabric, the image is then transferred from one medium to the medium of silk. This is accomplished by using equipment that allows paint to seep through the mesh fabric, transferring the image from your stencil and paint to your shirt. The process of silk screening is not complicated and is fairly easy to learn with the right training.

A great deal of businesses have been using the silk screen process on shirts and other clothing for quite some time. Traditionally, the process is performed by a piece of equipment consisting of a durable frame that has been attached to a piece of fabric that will form the screen. This can be attached to the frame using pins. The next step is to place a thin sheet of fabric over the screen. Later, you will cut holes into this piece of plastic. You will cut the holes in the areas where you want the paint to seep through to your shirt. In other words, the plastic will be used as a stencil. The plastic can be cut through the use of a scalpel, or you can use a liquid plastic coating instead.

Once the screen printer has been set up with the plastic stencil attached to the fabric, the next step is to place the shirt on top of a flat board. The screen should then be pressed on top of this material. Use a sponge to apply a thick layer of ink to the screen. The ink will only seep through the areas that you have not applied a plastic stencil. It is also possible to apply more than one color to the shirt by repeating this process several times with different colors. If you choose to do so, it is wise to start with the lightest colors first, and move on to the darker colors last.
