Cadiz, Spain is Europe’s oldest city, built 3,000 years ago. Located on the Costa de la Luz in the Andalucia region of Spain, it sits on a peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides. Tourists find it almost impossible to get lost in Cadiz, because wherever you walk, you are always close to the coastline. The city of Cadiz is divided into two distinct sections, the Old town and the New. Within the new city are wide avenues, stunning beaches, sailing clubs and sporting facilities. Going into the Old town at Puerta Tierra, the shift is dramatic, to narrow, cobbled streets and Moorish architecture. There is much ancient history in this quarter, with El Populo, the old medieval town, the La Vina fishing area, and Santa Maria, a living temple to flamenco. Cadiz offers a wide variety of hotels of every star-rating to meet every tourists’ needs.
