Real Estate Orlando Fl - Real Estate in Orlando Florida

disney acre plenty city

The city of Orlando was once a quiet town surrounded by orange groves, until the 1960s, when a man by the name of Walt Disney came knocking, wanting to buy hundreds of acres for a future amusement park, and Orlando was changed forever. Today it’s the metropolis of central Florida, about halfway between the Atlantic and Gulf coast.

With a population of around a million permanent residents, its busy airport brings millions of business and tourist travelers to thriving convention venues and tourist destinations. The sprawling Walt Disney resort complex is just west of the city on Interstate highway four. Along International Drive to the south is the Universal Studios resort. The 200 acre SeaWorld is adjacent to Discovery Cove and Aquatica marine parks.

Second homes are big here, with plentiful vacation properties and time shares. Every winter brings thousands of snowbirds from Canada and the northern states. Luxury home construction has increased with more corporate executives moving to or retiring in the area, which offers many secure gated communities. The many lakes around Orlando offer plenty of parks and fishing destinations.

Metrowest, an 1,800 acre golfing area of southwest Orlando real estate, offers plenty of homes, condominiums, apartments, and commercial property. Near Disney is Windermere, an 800 acre area offering golf courses among seven miles of lakefront estates, where many celebrities live.
