CLIVE, CAROLINE (1801-1873), English authoress, was born in London on the 24th of June ,8o,, the daughter of Mr Meysey-Wigley, M.P. for Worcester. She married, in 184o, the Rev. Archer Clive. She published, over the signature " V.," eight volumes of poetry, but is best known as the author of Paul Ferroll (1855), a sensational novel, and Why Paul Ferroll killed his Wife (186o). She died on the 13th of July 1873, at Whit-field, Herefordshire.
