OCHTMAN, LEONARD (1854– ), American painter, was born in Zonnemaire, Zeeland, Holland, on the 21st of October 18J4. His family removed to Albany, New York, in 1866. In 1882 he began to exhibit landscapes at the National Academy, and he became a National Academician in 1904. His most characteristic pictures, which recall the work of Inness, are scenes on Long Island Sound and on the Mianus river.
