RABBAH BAR NAHMANI (c. 270-0. 330), a Babylonian rabbi or amora (q.v.). He was for twenty-two years head of the Academy at Pumbeditha. His great dialectic skill acquired for him the epithet " uprooter of mountains." The Talmud owes much to this rabbi.
