YAUCO, a city of the department of Ponce, Porto Rico, 20 M. W. by N. of the city of Ponce. Pop. (1899) 61o8. Yauco is served by the American Railroad of Porto Rico. The city is situated about 150 ft. above the sea, and has a delightful climate. It is connected by a wagon road with its port, Guanica (pop. about moo), which has an excellent harbour. Coffee and tobacco are the chief industries. Yauco was first settled in 1756.
